Please Note: The Local Buying Club is not running currently, as the members managing this are unable to commit the needed time. If any member wishes to get involved and manage this, please reach out to the Board.
To jumpstart the co-op, create tangible benefits for our member-owners, and to support local producers, we're launching a buying club to make specific, periodic, bulk purchases. The buying club is operated by our team of volunteers--we make not profit on the products--your entire purchase (minus a small payment processing fee charged by our payment processor) directly supports local producers.
How Does The Local Buying Club Work? 1. We pick one producer every two to four weeks (think fruits, vegetables, spices, herbs, cheeses, meats, dairy, poultry) and work out a special discount for our members on a few of their products. 2. We circulate this order form, allowing about 5 days for you to place an order and prepay. 3. Five days after orders close, we host a pickup during set hours at a location in Paso Robles.
Who Can Buy? The Local Buying Club is only available to member-owners, i.e. households that have pledged, started a payment plan, or completed their payment of the $300 lifetime membership in the store. Ultimately, we need 500 members to open a brick-and-mortar store, and anyone is welcome to join. Our future store will be owned by many, but open to all (member-owners receive the benefits of owning a co-op, such as discounts and decision-making powers). How Do We Choose Products? We currently choose one producer at a time (every two to four weeks), focusing on products grown or produced locally, by locally-owned businesses. We are giving priority to producers who have joined the co-op, but may consider non-member-owners. If you are a producer interested in having your products featured in the buying club, please contact us at [email protected].
